During a bicycle stroll in Arrondissement Plateau-Mont-Royal in Montréal, the first signs are posted on... Gourmand Trees!
From the day I began my interest for the
Gourmand Trees!, I received so many photographs and positive comments from you, internauts and friends... Thank you! This section of my website allows people around the world to view the evolution and to contribute to the collection.
About naming the concept
Although I have used the term "Gluttonous Tree" in the past, I prefer the french word gourmand because it appears more accurate to nickname the phenomenon. English approximate equivalent "greediness" refers to "excess in eating more than one can reasonably consume, voracity". On the other hand, "gluttony" means "immoderately excess in eating and drinking". The French word gourmand refers more to the pleasure of eating, tasting, discovering. It is typical of the French cuisine. The word "gourmand" or "gormand" is also used in English for: "A person who delights in eating well and heartily" (Heritage Dictionnary). Therefore, I will say Gourmand Trees, or as you will read on the small signs, "Coexisting Trees". And we then refer here to the "Coexistence Blog" about Gourmand Trees.

Les Journées de la culture
ont été l'occasion de se questionner sur la culture...
les cultures et leurs coexistences.
Par une randonnée à bicyclette,
en présence d'une dizaine de participants,
installation des premières affichettes
de culture... des Arbres Gourmands !
dans l'arrondissement Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montréal.
... Et a donné lieu à de belles discussions.
Arbres à palabres?
En utilisant le Piquebois, percuteur perché,
fixation d'une affichette sur la rue Mentana.
Usage de clous forgés dans un alliage d'acier inoxydable
utilisé en industrie alimentaire (gr 316).
L'affichette est une sérigraphie sur styrène.
Le Piquebois pneumatique.
Affichettes à Montréal, à ce jour :
rue Mentana, rue Gilford,
rue des Érables, rue Cartier.
(toutes installées avec permission)
À venir :
Parc Lafontaine, rue Augustin-Cantin, terrasse Guindon, et plus...

History
Since the day I began observing and collecting photographs of the Gourmand Trees (1992, see history abstract), I have witnessed destruction of some outstanding specimens. Add to this the postponing of my Peace project in Jerusalem for security reasons, I wanted to keep on moving with the Gourmand Trees concept and take action! In order to protect all those trees that unite with artifacts, I now begin to mark them with a little sign and include their photo in this blog that I consider a forum to exchange thoughts about coexistence among Humans as well... I thank you in advance for your help in locating Gourmand Trees, and for allowing me to add your pictures to this site. Wherever they grow on Earth, I will find a way to go climb the most astonishing some day to fix the little blue sign!

Depuis que je manifeste mon intérêt pour les
Arbres gourmands!, je n'ai cessé de recevoir
des encouragements et des photographies de vous, amis internautes. Cette section vous permettra de contribuer à la collection et d'en suivre l'évolution, ainsi qu'à protéger ces phénomènes exceptionnels. Voici donc le carnet web des coexistences au sujet des Arbres gourmands.
La passion d'un concept
J'ai commencé ce projet en 1992 (voir l'historique), et je pensais depuis plusieurs années à une façon de protéger certains des plus beaux spécimens. Depuis l'abandon de mon projet à Jérusalem, et plus récemment depuis la destruction de quelques magnifiques Arbres gourmands à Montréal, j'ai décidé de passer à l'action. Je commence enfin l'installation d'affichettes qui identifient les Arbres gourmands, tout en proposant une réflexion sur la coexistence. Et il y a des Arbres gourmands partout sur la planète, sauf dans les déserts et aux pôles...
Le carnet que vous fréquenterez ici fera rapport des affichages réussis d'Arbres gourmands partout où il m'aura été possible de le faire. Mais je me ferai aussi un plaisir de montrer les photos que vous m'aurez fait parvenir.
Peu importe dans quel pays se trouve le spécimen, je trouverai bien un jour une manière de fixer l'affichette bleue sur ceux parmi les plus remarquables que je localiserai grâce à votre aide.
